stop versioning while editing document in office

    Details

      Enterprise Only

      Description

When opening an MS Office document, e.g. Word from Share (Edit in MS Office) for each Ctrl+S action a new version is created. Some users use Ctrl+S after each written sentence and then docs with version 1.74 are created. This creates a huge amount of versions in repository and eats lot of storage. As collaboration platform, where editing Office documents is daily business, this should not be the case.

      The expected behavior should be:

      • Version 1.0 in repo
      • When opening Word doc in MS Office, Version 1.1 is created --> document is locked
      • Whenever Ctrl+S is used, version 1.1 is overwritten
      • When document is saved and CLOSED, version 1.1 remains with latest changes --> document is released
      • When document is opened again, version 1.2 is created, and so on.

This should be configurable for AOS, so that not each write/save action creates a new version, but the whole edit and close event creates only one new version.
