      Description

We noticed that when requesting a single thumbnail, alfresco creates two images in the tmp folder (source and target) and the response is quite fast. So far so good.
If we request multiple thumbnails for different image nodes (eg the results page from a search), then alfresco runs the convert process multiple times for each node. It creates multiple source files in the tmp folder for the same image. The more the results without thumbnail, the more the convert processes per node (hundreds or even thousands some times if the requests are too many). The problems gets bigger is more users make requests for thumbnails and the server sometimes is not responding at all.
As a side effect, we have seen sql deadlocks in the logs (maybe the threads are trying to update the same node's thumbnail simultaneously).
