Async Rules Not Firing - Intermittent Failure

    Details

    • Type: Bug
    • Status: Closed (View Workflow)
    • Priority: Major
    • Resolution: Cannot Reproduce
    • Affects Version/s: 3.2 R Enterprise
    • Fix Version/s: 4.0 Enterprise

    • Resolution Time Custom Field:

      Description

      Sometimes async rules are not being executed. If the same rule is sync then it runs ok.

      To reproduce:
      Create a space
      Create 2 rules on the space as follows:-

      • Rule 1: Inbound, Mimetype: Word, Convert to PDF, Synchronous (i.e. not run in background)
      • Rule 2: Inbound, Mimetype: PDF, Execute a Script (see below), Run in background

      For the script:
      document.addAspect("cm:dublincore");
      document.properties["cm:contributor"] = "test property value";
      document.save();

      Upload a Word document to the space. Sometimes the async rule does not execute i.e. the aspect is not added to the space.
      However, I'm not seeing any exceptions and can't consistently reproduce. It seems to be timing related. However, once you get the error it can be consistently fixed by making rule 2 sync and appear again by making it sync
