According to official documentation (https://docs.alfresco.com/search-enterprise/concepts/solr-install-config.html ):

"Alfresco Search Services 1.4 supports all Alfresco Content Services 6.1 certified platforms and components."

Now that SOLR 6 deployment is based in Jetty instead of Tomcat (Repository and Share are still deployed in Tomcat), a review on supported operating systems must be performed.

At least, SOLR 6 has different issues related to SUSE deployment.

In particular Angel pointed out these two issues with Solr on SUSE:

Since stack testing has already been done by the Applause team I have passed these on to see if they have already tested it. The initial feedback is that they think they have, but they'll get back to us later.

Andrew from Applause has just tested this on SUSE, and Search Services starts fine: SearchServicesOnSUSE.log (Nb. There's no ACS running, so we get some tracking error messages). Potentially the difference is that the Solr bugs are using the Solr installer, whereas Search Services is installed from a zip file.

Closing this as we think everything looks ok. If there are more specific issues in the future then we can raise a new ticket.
